What is Pecket Well College?

Pecket Well College is not like a school or other colleges, it is more like a big family.
If you are a stranger you feel at home
as soon as you come through the door.

Who is it for?

Pecket Well College

Was set up and is run by people working on things in their lives that  hold them back, such as reading and writing.  It is for people who have missed out on education.
If you want to work with others like yourselves to overcome your fears and share your strengths, then Pecket Well College is for you.

How we work

We work together, with individuals or groups sharing our strengths, as people, not as tutors or students. There is space to work in small groups, or on your own with help at hand if needed.

What we offer

• A friendly welcome
• A place we respect one another
• Free courses
  • One day courses and or taster days
  • Weekend courses
    (usually staying overnight)
  • One day a week courses,
    (12-24 weeks -on-going)

• volunteering opportunities

We can also help you with: someone to write down your words, if you would like that. Help with childcare costs, transport or travel expenses, carers / escorts for disabled people, and signers for deaf people, interpreters if needed and help with care expenses if you are looking after a relative at home. We can work with your group, helping you plan what you want and helping you run it yourselves at Pecket Well College, or elsewhere. We have worked with all sorts of groups in the past, for example:

• People setting up their own projects
• Asian women and Asian parents
• Drug users wanting to sort their lives out
• People in adult basic education
• Unemployed people
• Disabled people
• Employers
• And many more

Access

The college has good access for wheelchair users and an induction loop. There are regular trains to
Hebden Bridge Station and half hourly buses from Hebden Bridge to the college
